Serbia Head Coach Dusan Ivkovic "I think that Israel was much better tonight. They deserved the win for sure. The worst part of our game was the second part of the first quarter when Israel made a 15-0 run. We have to stay focused and learn from this game. We finished the first round with two losses. For the second round we need to play much better. Israel played very good transition game and that made a big difference. I don't want to give any excuses, but our trips to Iceland and coming here were very difficult." Israel Head Coach Arik Shivek "Very important win. We played a big-big game on both ends of the floor. Every player gave an extra effort and without it we couldn't have won. Serbia is one of the top teams in Europe. To beat them by so many points is not something to take for granted. We had the point difference in our heads, and that's why I took the time out in the last minute. Everybody gave what they got including the ones who came off the bench. We didn't take our heads down after the defeat to Estonia. We bounced back with two road wins in tough places and now we beat Serbia by a big margin. We have to continue with this on the next game. I don't know how this campaign will end but we have such a great group of guys. These things are measured in tough moments. We were in a very tough moment and bounced back from that. " Serbia player Milan Macvan "Congratulations to Israel for the win. We played a very bad game. We must improve for the next game because we have to win more games if we want to qualify to EuroBasket 2013. In order to do that, we have to play better. Israel played very well, with a lot of momentum. We need to look forward now. We will fight until the end to secure our presence in the EuroBasket." Israel player Omri Casspi "It was fun to return to Nokia Arena. It feels like home here. We need to go home now, rest and make good practices before Montenegro and win another game. We still have a long road ahead of us. The fans tonight were amazing. There's nothing like playing in front of your fans. Everybody played great tonight and this is our strength - we play like a team." |
