Jan Willem Jansen, head-coach of Netherlands: "We started poorly the first and the third quarter. We had many turnovers, especially in the fourth quarter and we couldn't match the intensity of the Romanian game. We had very good opportunities during the game but we couldn't handle them and, in consequence, we couldn't take the game in our hands. We are verry disapointed, we wanted a good start in this qualification campaign." Arvin Slagter, Netherlands:
"Romania played very well, they scored 90 points, they were smart, they went for the mismatches and played from there. Also they scored a lot from the three-point line. For us, now it is the time to regroup, look at our mistakes and try to fix them." Mladen Ostojic, hea-coach of Romania: "It was a very tough game, because the Netherlands have very smart players. But today we played better than our opponents and I'm happy because we scored many points and, more than that, we split that points, many players scored more than ten points. I am also satisified because the players from the bench made a very good game. This is a good start for us and the result is also good for our confidence, for our team and for the future games. Thanks to our fans, they helped us to win this game."
Mihai Silvasan, Romania:
"We were happy because we had to face Netherlands in our first game, at home. They looked like the most 'accesible' team from Group D. We wanted to start the campaign with a victory and we made it. More than this victory I'm also pleased beacause we played like a real team, we were united and we could manage our weak moments during the game." |
