Mirza Teletovic and Nihad Dedovic combined for 61 points to lead Bosnia and Herzegovina to a 107-89 road win over the Netherlands, as they improved to 2-0 in the EuroBasket Qualification Round. The Bosnians broke open the game when they exploded for 39 points in the third quarter, and were able to ease off as the Dutch cut the lead down the stretch. Bosnia and Herzegovina enjoyed slightly the better of the first half but could never get more than five points ahead and found their advantage cut to just one, 51-50, when Robin Smeulders split his free throws before the break. The Dutch even took the lead on Arvin Slagter's three to start the third period, but the Bosnian response was swift and sure. They reeled off a 19-2 run highlighted by threes from Dalibor Persic and Dedovic to go 70-55 up, and then finished the period with a 16-3 spurt that made it 90-64 on Dedovic's lay-up. The game was effectively over and even though the Dutch finished on a 14-4 run it was never going to change the outcome of the game. Teletovic finished with 33 points and Dedovic had 28, with Persic collecting 14, Zackary Wright 13 and Elmedin Kikanovic 11. Henk Norel led the Dutch with 17 points and Worthy De Jong had 16, Slagter 14 and Smeulders 13. David Jansen also reached double figures with 12. Turnovers played a big role in the final result, with the Dutch committing 21 to the winners' five. |
