It took a while for EuroBasket hopefuls Israel to get going on Wednesday but once they did, there was no stopping them.

Playing at home, Israel rolled to a 92-75 victory over Iceland in Qualification Round Group A.

Arik Shivek's side improved to 5-3 with the victory and stayed right on course for next year's Final Round, while keeping Iceland winless.

Omri Casspi poured in 22 points and Lior Eliyahu 20 for the Israelis, who trailed by nine during the first quarter but took a 42-38 lead to the break.

Israel kept the pressure on after the restart and had a double-digit advantage for the last 15 minutes of the contest.

Shivek's side out-rebounded Iceland, 53-38.

Israel would have been more convincing winners with a better night at the line, but they made just 16 of 26 (61.5%).

Jakob Sigurdarson and Jon Stefansson had 21 and 20 points, respectively, for the Israelis.

Next up for Israel is a home game against the Slovak Republic on Saturday then next week, Shivek's side meet Serbia in an important game in Belgrade to finish the Qualification Round.
