Team 2010/11: Eisbaren Bremerhaven (Germany-BBL) Career: RheinEnergie Cologne (Germany-BBL, 2006-09), Eisbaren Bremerhaven (Germany-BBL, 2009-11)
Philipp Schwethelm is another frontcourt prospect for Germany at this level who came of age at the FIBA World Championship last summer. In his first senior tournament, the 22-year-old finished with 4.4 points in 16 minutes of action per game. Now a regular part of the Eisbaren Bremerhaven rotation, he has seen his production go up from seven to ten points per game in the last season. He also seems to have put past issues with Coach Bauermann at Under-20 level behind him, so much so that he will play for the Coach next season at club level in Munich. At the elite level he still continues to operate a little under the radar but is working hard to develop his game. A tough, hard-nosed defender, his strengths include a respectable and consistent three-point shot and he is possibly the best young German player that fans across Europe know the least about. |
