There were celebrations on the final buzzer in Nicosia as visiting Croatia confirmed their place at EuroBasket 2013 in emphatic style with an eye-popping second half performance helping them to a 98-49 victory against Cyprus. Croatia posted a truly spectacular final ten minutes to cement their spot, holding their helpless hosts to just one paltry basket during the last ten minutes of the game to outscore their opponent 33-2 and romp to the win and yet another Finals appearance. It was a powerful and impressive performance by the Croatians who were rampant both from the arc and also under the basket. They shot down Cyprus in fine style from long-range, pouring in no fewer than 11 triples with backcourt combo Roko Leni Ukic and Bojan Bogdanovic sinking seven between them. Luksa Andric meanwhile led the way in the paint, claiming 16 points from seven of eight floor shooting as Cyprus struggled to keep their heads above water both inside and out. Too many turnovers also didn't help the cause of the home team who continually buckled meaning they are still without a win in Group C. As for Croatia, they have plenty to celebrate including having the sublime teenage talent of Dario Saric who contributed 13 points and seven rebounds. The result also confirmed Ukraine as having qualified for next summer in Slovenia. |
