After an excellent career at youth level, the time may have arrived for Oleksandr Lypovyy to make the transition to the senior National Team who could certainly reap the reward of his scoring ability. A strong player who can not only shoot but also put the ball on the floor, he averaged over 14 points per game last summer at the U20 European Championships in Croatia having averaged similar numbers a year earlier in Metz at the U18 European Championships. At club level, Lypovvy has played all but a few months with BC Kyiv where he has tasted action in European club competition via EuroChallenge. More recently he was snapped up by Donetsk for the climax of the Ukrainian Superleague season. He is very composed on court and could be a potential star for the senior team in years to come, even if EuroBasket 2011 comes a little too early for the 19-year-old.
