Team 2010-11: Union Olimpija Ljubljana (Slovenia-Liga Telemach) Career: Tapiolan Honka (Finland-D1, 2007-08), Honka Espoo Playboys (Finland-Korisliiga, 2008-10), Union Olimpija Ljubljana (Slovenia-SKL, 2010-11)
Sasu Salin is a shooting sensation who was the most deadly player from three-point range during the Qualifying Round last summer after drilling an incredible 64% from downtown. In fact he established himself as joint top scorer for Finland despite playing only 18 minutes per game and gave a glimpse of how effective and influential he could be if he begins to realise the potential he has shown during his youth career. A player who is confident in his own ability, he's the new ‘wonder-kid' of Finnish basketball. He loves having fun on the court and rarely feels the kind of tension which affects other young players. It's been an eventful 18 months for the guard who not only excelled for the National Team but went on to make his debut in Euroleague after a first season overseas with Union Olimpija Ljubljana. Playing in Slovenia has developed Salin's game in a way that would not have been possible in Finland although his next big test will be how he handles the closer attention he will receive from opposing defences now that the surprise factor has well and truly evaporated. |
