Estonia put the brakes on a two-game losing skid and breathed some life into their EuroBasket Qualification Round campaign with a decisive win against Iceland. Following defeats to Montenegro and Serbia, Tiit Sokk's team prevailed, 86-67, to improve to 3-2. Veteran small forward Kristjan Kangur had 27 points and seven rebounds for the Estonians, who dominated in a couple of important categories. The Baltic side out-rebounded the hosts, 49-33, and also shared the ball, finishing with 23 assists to just 14 for Iceland. Iceland hit six three-balls - one more than Estonia - yet put up 12 more attempts. Estonia led from start to finish and went in front by as many as 25 points. Next for the Sokk's team is a game at the Slovak Republic on Thursday while Iceland will go for their first win at Serbia. |
