|Slovenia coach Bozidar Maljkovic has called 11 players for this summer, who will be joined by members of the U20 national team.|
Slovenia will not engage in Qualification Round battles for EuroBasket 2013 since they are the host nation of the event.
This summer remains vitally important for the federation and national team coach Bozidar Maljkovic, however, as they get ready for the most important year in the nation's basketball history.
Maljkovic has announced 11 players that will take part in a summer programme, which includes friendly games against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia in the Adecco Cup from 2-5 August in Stozice Arena in Ljubljana.
The Slovenians will also play in Belgrade on 8 and 9 August against Turkey and either Hungary or Serbia.
The players called are Jure Balazic, Jaka Blazic, Zoran Dragic, Erjon Kastrati, Domen Lorbek, Edo Muric, Bostjan Nachbar, Uros Slokar, Gasper Vidmar, Ziga Zagorc and Miha Zupan.
For different reasons, Mirza Begic, Goran Dragic, Jaka Lakovic, Erazem Lorbek and Beno Udrih have been given the summer off.
In Dragic's case, he is going to be signing a new NBA contract, one that promises to be the most important and lucrative of his career.
Dragic, along with Begic (back), Lakovic (rest), Lorbek (knees) and Udrih (finger) have all expressed an interest in playing next summer.
Youngsters from the Slovenia side to play at the U20 European Championship will also be invited into the pre-EuroBasket 2013 programme.
Maljkovic said: "We're already thinking about next year and a big project for Slovenian basketball - EuroBasket 2013 which we will in one way prepare for this year, in particular, testing some young players who could wear the Slovenia jersey next year."
The coach will decide, along with U20 boss Zmago Sagadin, which players will join the aforementioned 11 after the U20 European Championship, which is being held in Slovenia from 12-22 July.
