Montenegro stayed perfect in Group A of the EuroBasket 2013 Qualification Round as they eased to an 85-67 win over Iceland. The hosts effectively had the game wrapped up by half-time as they took a 48-32 lead into the locker room and moved to 4-0. Bojan Dubljevic scored 16 points to lead five Montenegrins in double figures, with Vladimir Dasic adding 15, Suad Sehovic 14, Blagota Sekulic 13, and Aleksa Popovic 10. They raced into an early 12-5 lead on Sehovic's three-pointer and were 26-12 ahead on a dunk from Sekulic before the first period was over. It threatened to get out of hand in the second period as they scored the first 13 points to lead 39-15 after back-to-back lay-ups from Dubljevic. However Iceland kept battling and big three-pointers from Hlynur Baeringsson and Haukur Palsson helped them get it back to a 16-point deficit at half-time. An early 7-0 burst from Iceland had them within 11, 50-39, early in the third quarter but there was no need for panic on the part of the hosts as they began to ease away once more. When Sehovic hit another three early in the fourth the gap was back to 67-45, and the contest was over. Baeringsson had 19 points to lead Iceland, with Sigurdarson adding 15, and Palsson and Jon Stefansson 13 each. |
