EUROBASKET QUALIFIERS

Dusan Mladjan poured in 24 points to lead Switzerland to a comfortable 76-51 win over Albania in their Eurobasket qualifying round opener.

Switzerland took control of the game early, with back-to-back lay-ups from Stefan Petkovic making it 13-3 midway through the first quarter.

Mladjan's lay-up made it 20-10 to end the first quarter and they kept it coming in the second to lead 29-13 on Florent Ramseier's jump-shot.

Albania did their best to stem the bleeding as Switzerland's lead had not grown when Mladjan's jump-shot made it 47-31 early in the third quarter.

However, he followed it up with a three and Petkovic's lay-up made it 52-31.

Another three from Mladjan had them 68-44 ahead early in the fourth quarter and that was his queue to take a seat as Switzerland cruised to the finish.

Ramseier added 13 points for Switzerland.

Ersid Luca had 12 for Albania with Erkand Karaj adding 11 and Gerti Shima 10.
